A Food Safety Team Leader (FSTL) manages a factory's food safety and management system (FSMS). Here are some of the roles and responsibilities of an FSTL:
Monitoring: Continuously monitor the FSMS and ensure processes are established, executed, and maintained
Risk assessment: Conduct risk assessments and establish acceptable risk levels
Audits: Oversee food safety audits and corrective actions
Reporting: Report variances to senior management
Communication: Ensure relevant training and qualification of team members, and communicate concisely to top management
Supplier assessment: Estimate suppliers' food safety systems and monitor their performance
Flow diagrams: Create flow diagrams for each product or process category covered by the FSMS
Consumer awareness: Ensure the organization is aware of consumer requirements for food safety
Prerequisite programs: Grow the company's prerequisite programs and ensure they are executed and monitored
